80 Years ago, the German Luftwaffe launched their largest attack on Britain during the Battle of Britain. On that day Fighter Command was fully engaged against the attack and scored a decisive victory thus turning the tide in the battle. 112 Canadians fought in Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain of which 23 gave their lives.
Of note here are No.1 Squadron RCAF (Canadian), Canadian Johnny Kent who commanded one of the Polish Squadrons, 242 RAF Squadron, commanded by Douglas Bader and made up of mainly Canadians and Lord Beaverbrook who was Minister of Aircraft Production during the Battle. I've posted a link below from Vintage Wings...take a look..well worth the read knowing what Canadians had done in the Battle.
